Her Story
Najeé Maité, also known as Sound Gyal Naj, is a multidisciplinary artist—singer, songwriter, DJ, poet, cultural curator, and fine artist—whose work radiates passion, purpose, and soul. Of Jamaican descent and originally from New York, Najeé blends a rich cultural heritage with deep musical training to deliver powerful performances rooted in Reggae, R&B, and Soul.
A classically trained vocalist with a Master’s in Music Production and Management from Florida International University, Najeé brings technical mastery and heartfelt expression to everything she touches. Whether performing with a Go-Go or Funk band, spinning genre-fluid DJ sets across the Black diaspora, or writing songs that stir the spirit, she moves audiences through sound and story.
Najeé’s artistry is deeply influenced by Gospel, Contemporary, Caribbean, and Diasporic traditions. Her voice, a true gift, is paired with a sharp ear for curation and an undeniable stage presence. With roots in Florida, experience across Orlando and Miami, and a home base now in the DMV, she continues to evolve as an independent artist and producer with global aspirations.
Outside of music, Najeé is all about joy, movement, and community, often found roller skating, dancing, and soaking up good vibes wherever she goes.
